@Bought-Out Newspaper Workers and Journalists – What are You Doing Now?

by Shawn Smith on August 4, 2008

With newspapers shedding talented staffers by the sometimes-hundreds, the creative community stands to see an influx of talented writers, designers and others during the coming years.

Not everyone who is taking a buyout is at retirement age. Some exiting newspaper workers have plenty of years left in the tank and also a great deal of wisdom and skill to share.

What sort of projects are bought-out employees pursuing? Freelance? New businesses?

Have an example or a project you want to promote, share your thoughts and links if you got ‘em. I think many of us would like to know what you are doing now.

Last month, I started a list of journalists forging ahead.

The creative, analytical and communication skills developed during a news career can be applied in lots of ways. I hope your readers will announce their plans.
