How to create a map-oriented photo blog

by Shawn Smith on March 27, 2008

In View photo blogZac Echola of Forum Communications drew up a great tutorial on how to create a photo blog with maps using Google’s MyMaps and MapChannels.

His tutorial is very easy to follow and uses free tools. He used this method to help create the in view photo blog.

Have you tried this method or others to create a photo blog with maps? What are some of the better photo blogs you’ve seen? Please share!

Although not for everyone, integrating mapping with blogging can be powerful. Blog posts can easily get decontextualized. Positioning them back in realspace can return some “context.” Thank you for sharing Zac’s blog. The woman with the cherry can is a formidable presence. I’m glad we know exactly where she is so we can sample her pie.

I only wish MapChannels would allow for most recent on top ordering of the photos…

Maybe the KML can be tweaked.
