Let’s face it folks, nobody is perfect.Washington Post spelling error

I ran across a spelling error on the front page of the washingtonpost.com. This isn’t much of a big deal, other than the fact that the presentation of the Post online is the envy of many online news producers. I had a short excitement when I actually found a mistake on the site.

While this was going on, one of our producers discovered an errant forum link on our homepage.

JEEZ!

I don’t know much about the Post’s production system, but I do know many people look to WaPo as the pillar of online news presentation, myself included. That’s why I felt like I found a dollar in an old pair of pants when I found the spelling error.

At my site, a number of producers often check and re-check the way items are displayed on the page. Despite our best efforts, we make mistakes and errors slip onto the live page (more often than I’ve ever seen on WaPo).

Point is, we all make mistakes, but how do your producers deal with them? Do you employ any type of co-worker checks and balances system before items hit your live sites?
